Wedding Bands

December 30th, 2007 at 04:18 am

Q and I bought our wedding bands today. I ended up spending $500. It felt really good to have the money readily available with no strain put on any of my savings accounts or bills. Managing money well takes such an incredible amount of stress out of life.

Oh, that's wonderful! I have to say that was one of my ex's happiest moment. $500 really isn't all that bad at all.

Wow that is great! Congratulations on the upcoming wedding and on having your wits about you at the jewelry
store!!! (Bricks & mortar store or online? - inquiring minds want to know.)

Hubster and I spent - get this, back in the 80's - $100 COMBINED for our gold wedding bands. We are just as married 25 years later as those who went into deep hock to buy the "big 'un" - maybe more so, we are after all STILL married, where many may not be because finances came between them.

You sound like one smart couple!!

I agree...having ample savings for life's emergencies makes life so much less stressful.

We got married in the seventies and spent less than $50 for our wedding bands!! Boy, things have gone up. I got my diamond engagement ring (1st marriage) in 1964 for $200.

We found our wedding bands at a small jewelry store in Q's home town. I bought her engagement ring at a larger chain. We looked everywhere to find the right bands, but we weren't having any luck until she stumbled across the exact ones we wanted in her home town.

The wedding is May 31st...five months from tomorrow! It has really been a fun process. Having someone who is not demanding makes it easy.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement!

Congratulations! Soundsl like a good price, indeed! My brother got engaged last New Years Eve (his 2nd marriage, her 3rd) and it is rumored he put $6K on a store credit card (though my mom just mentioned it was $12K) So nice t have a like-minded kindred spirit on your journey of life! DH (18 years) was kind of extravagent when he first got married, but after this many years and all these kids later, he sees it from the frugal perspective! May is a great month for a wedding!
